Yellow Jackets Protect Hive, Blank Shoremen, 2-0

ASHLAND, VA -- Host Randolph-Macon College scored a pair of first-half goals to blank visiting Washington College, 2-0, at the Randolph-Macon Select Tournament in men's soccer action this afternoon in Ashland, VA. 

Davey Torrance put the home team on the scoreboard at 28:26, scoring off an assist from John Baskerville.  Justin Hoffman recorded the Yellow Jackets' second goal at 42:53.

The Yellow Jackets held a 12-4 advantage in shots in the first half and an 11-5 edge in the second. Each team had one corner kick in the game. 

Junior goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) made 10 saves for the Shoremen, who got a team-high three shots from sophomore midfielder Justin Geho (Westminster, MD/Cardinal Gibbons). Matty Rocawich made two saves in the win for Randolph-Macon.

The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 12:00 pm game against Bridgewater at the Randolph-Macon Select Tournament.
