PHILADELPHIA, PA. — The Washington College men's rowing team competed in three events at the Kerr Cup today in Philadelphia, advancing to the final in the varsity four. It was the Shoremen's final regatta prior to the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships two weeks from today.
How It Happened
- The Shoremen's varsity four placed second in its heat in 7:14.90. Fordham's "A" boat was first in the heat in 7:04.38, Merchant Marine third in 7:17.94, Loyola fourth in 7:37.26, Bucknell fifth in 7:43, and fellow MARC school St. Mary's sixth in 9:10.28. The varsity four was then sixth in the final in 7:39.24. Fordham "A" won the race in 7:05.25, Drexel was second in 7:09.93, Army third in 7:10.19, Lafayette fourth in 7:10.97, and Michigan fifth in 7:25.71.
- The Shoremen's novice four was fourth in its heat in 8:20.15, racing against crews from Division I schools. Temple won the heat in 7:30.01, Drexel second in 7:38.43, and Lafayette third in 7:45.10.
- The Shoremen were fifth in their heat of the second varsity four in 7:48.43, racing against crews from Division I schools. La Salle won the heat in 7:19.53, Delaware's lightweights were second in 7:20.13, Michigan third in 7:20.53, and Temple's lightweights fourth in 7:20.81.
