Shoremen Take Second in DII/III Varsity Eight at Knecht Cup

Shoremen Also Compete in Division II/III Varsity Four

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — The Washington College men's rowing team finished second in the Division II/III varsity eight and also competed in the Division II/III varsity four at the Knecht Cup in West Windsor, N.J., this weekend.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen's time of 6:35.88 in the final-only Division II/III varsity eight event was second only to Mercyhurst's 6:18.07. Three other Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) schools finished right behind the Shoremen; Marietta was third in 6:38.65, St. Mary's fourth in 6:58.83, and Franklin & Marshall fifth in 7:00.61. Sixth-place Carnegie Mellon (7:06.82) and seventh-place Merchant Marine (7:45.70) rounded out the field.
- The Shoremen's entry in the varsity four - comprised primarily of novice rowers - placed fifth in its heat in 8:06.04. Mercyhurst won the heat in 7:12.30, Wentworth was second in 7:17.25, Merchant Marine third in 7:27.00, and Susquehanna fourth in 8:04.91.
