Shoremen Compete at Head of the Charles

WC Finishes 31st in Men's Collegiate Four

BOSTON, MA -- The Washington College men's rowing team finished 31st of 36 boats in the men's collegiate four today at the Head of the Charles regatta. The Shoremen covered the course in 18:12.72, which would have put them in 19th place, but were assessed a one-minute penalty.

Senior Springer Harris (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) was the coxswain for the Shoremen. Senior Brian Gamble (Gibson Island, MD/Holderness School, NH) sat stroke, junior Reno Smith (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) was in the three seat, junior Michael Zaborskiy (Novosibirsk City, Russia/American School of Bangkok) sat in the two seat, and senior R. Scott Jones (Maple Glen, PA/La Salle College HS) was the bow.

Despite the penalty, the Shoremen still posted the fifth-best finish of the ten boats from Division III institutions in the race. Fordham won the race by nearly 10 full second over Notre Dame, finishing in 17:00.851.

The Shoremen return to action one week from today at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia.
