Senior goalie Ted DiSalvo made 11 saves, including five in the fourth quarter, and junior midfielder Michael Trapp broke the Centennial Conference single-season record for ground balls as fifth-ranked host Washington College defeated visiting 10th-ranked Lynchburg College, 10-7, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen improved to 17-1 on the season with the win, while the Hornets conclude their season at 17-5.

Washington College senior midfielder Hunter Nowicki, senior defenseman Casey McKnight, and head coach Jeff Shirk have been chosen for the top Centennial Conference men's lacrosse individual honors in a vote conducted by the conference's nine head coaches. Nowicki has been named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year, McKnight has been named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Shirk has been named the Coach of the Year. All-American Goalie, Long-Time Supporter of WC Athletics John R. Parker '55 Passes Away
John R. Parker ’55, a writer, storyteller, and a former advertising executive who retired to Chestertown so he could spend more time cheering on the Washington College Shoremen, died December 11, 2010, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. Parker was a two-time All-American in lacrosse at Washington College and played on the 1954 USILA Laurie Cox Division Co-National Championship Team.

Being a two-time All-American in collegiate lacrosse would be an impressive athletic career for most people, but for 1981 Washington College graduate Lecky Haller, that was just a prelude to a longer and even more storied career in another sport. A 15-time National Champion, nine-time World Championship medalist, and two-time Olympian, Lecky put together an outstanding career in competitive canoeing.
