CORTLAND, NY -- Washington College men's lacrosse alumnus and current SUNY Cortland head men's lacrosse coach Steve Beville '85 will be inducted into the US Lacrosse Upstate New York Chapter Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 24th.
Beville was a first-team All-American for the Shoremen in 1984 and 1985 and a two-time NCAA Division III National Defenseman of the Year. A starter for the Shoremen from the first game of his freshman year, the Shoremen went 47-17 during his four years as a player and reached the NCAA Division III Championship game three times. Following the conclusion of his playing career, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Shoremen.
Beville will begin his fifth season as Cortland's men's lacrosse head coach in 2011. He led the Red Dragons to the NCAA Division III Championship in 2009 and was named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III National Coach of the Year the same season. Beville was also the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in both 2008 and 2010. His overall coaching record of 217-124 includes a 69-13 (.841) record at Cortland and a 100-49 mark in 10 seasons at Colorado College, along with eight seasons at Division I Vermont.
