#8 Washington College 3rd at H/WS Fall
Blouin Skippers WC to 2nd Place in A Division

GENEVA, NY -- Sailing in its first regatta since rising eight spots to eighth in the Sailing World Co-Ed Top 20, Washington College finished third of 14 schools at the Hobart/William Smith Fall Intersectional this weekend. Senior Conner Blouin (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) skippered Washington to a second-place finish in A Division.

Blouin sailed with freshman crew Matt Lawler (Alexandria, VA/Christchurch School) in the first six A Division races and with junior crew Max Kurland (Sharon, CT/Hotchkiss School) in the final eight A Division races. WC was in the top five in nine of the 14 A Division races; Blouin and Kurland won races eight and 13.

Sophomore Mike Whitford (Chicago, IL/Francis W. Parker School) skippered Washington to a fourth-place finish in A Division, sailing with junior crew Caroline Hill (Tiverton, RI/Bishop Stang, MA) in all but two of the B Division races. Sophomore crew Mildred Conroy (Newton, MA/Tabor Academy) sailed with Whitford in B Division races nine and 10. WC was in the top five in eighth of the 14 B Division races. Whitford and Hill won races one and six.

Thirteenth-ranked Navy won the regatta with 15th-ranked host Hobart/William Smith finishing second. Eight A Division and six B Division races were sailed on Saturday in northwest winds of 5-15 miles per hour. The remaining races sailed on Sunday in Northwest wind shifting to the west at 5-15 miles per hour.

Next weekend, the Washington College sailing team will compete at the Navy Fall Intersectional and host the Washington College Open.
