2008 GENEVA, NY -- The Washington College sailing team finished 10th of 18 schools at an ICSA Co-Ed Dinghy National Championship Semifinal regatta held on Lake Geneva in New York this weekend. Washington's 150 points put the team six points behind ninth-place Wisconsin for a spot in June's ICSA/Gill Co-Ed Dinghy National Championship. Sophomore skipper Conner Blouin (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) sailed with junior crews Seth Olson (Branford, CT/Branford) and Derek Packard (Excelsior, MN/Breck) and sophomore crew Krista Hankins (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) to finish ninth in A Division. Senior skipper Alex Hood (Newport, RI/Portsmouth Abbey) sailed with Hankins and senior crew Shrijana Puri (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) to place 12th in B Division. Blouin and Hankins won the final A Division race. Joining Wisconsin in the top nine spots at the regatta were, in order, second-ranked Boston College, top-ranked St. Mary's, 12th-ranked Vermont, Connecticut College, Pennsylvania, 13th-ranked Stanford, eighth-ranked Harvard, and sixth-ranked Hobart/William Smith. Saturday's conditions began with a steady south breeze at 10 to 14 knots. Scattered thunderstorms ended the day's races at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's races sailed in a 3-6 knot breeze from the south. In all, eight races were sailed in each division.
