2008 GENEVA, NY -- The 19th-ranked Washington College sailing team finished seventh of 18 schools at the Hobart/William Smith Fall Intersectional this weekend in Geneva, NY. Junior skipper Conner Blouin (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) and sophomore crew James Shepherd (Chicago, IL/Lincoln Park) finished fourth in A Division. Blouin and Shepherd finished in the top four in five of the eight A Division races. Senior skipper Seth Olson (Branford, CT/Branford) and sophomore crew Caroline Hill (Tiverton, RI/Bishop Stang, MA) were 15th in B Division. Eighth-ranked Navy won the regatta, followed by 10th-ranked Hobart/William Smith in second and ninth-ranked Charleston in third. Two races were sailed in each division on Saturday in a south breeze of 6-8 knots. The breeze died at noon and failed to fill again. Six races in each division were sailed on Sunday. Sunday began with a south breeze of 8-10 knots which built to 10-14 knots and slowly died down to six knots. Next weekend, the Washington College sailing team will host the Washington College Open and compete at the Navy Fall Intersectional. |
