Packard and Olson Place 10th in B Division

BOSTON, MA -- The Washington College sailing team finished 15th of 18 teams at the Boston Dinghy Cup, a three-division co-ed intersectional hosted by Harvard and MIT, this weekend. Junior skipper Derek Packard (Excelsior, MN/Breck) and junior crew Seth Olson (Branford, CT/Branford) led Washington with a 10th-place finish in B Division.

Sophomore skipper Conner Blouin (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) sailed with sophomore crew Krista Hankins (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) and freshman Caroline Hill (Tiverton, RI/Bishop Stang, MA) to place 16th in A Division, while sophomore skipper Patrick Clancy (Scituate, MA/Boston College HS) and sophomore crew Genevieve Smith (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) were 15th in C Division.

Third-ranked Yale won the Boston Dinghy Cup, while top-ranked St. Mary's was second and 17th-ranked MIT was third. Fourteen races were completed on Saturday in a west-northwest breeze from 12-22 knots with low 40-degree temperatures. Sunday brought more fickle 5-10 knot breezes from the same direction with temperatures in the upper 30's.

Next weekend, the Washington College sailing team will compete at the Central Spring #1, hosted by Ocean County, and the North Spring #1, hosted by Hobart/William Smith.
