Suzie Jakub scores the game-winning goal with 48 seconds left to give the women's lacrosse team a 15-14 win at Stevens Tech. The two teams exchange scoring runs for most of the game before Stevens held a 14-13 lead with under four minutes to play. Brittany Lambert scored off an assist from Alli Luchey with 3:29 remaining to tie the score. Lambert scooped up a ground ball off a Stevens turnover with 1:38 left and Jakub's game-winner came later on that same possession. Melanie Ruppert won the ensuing draw and the Shorewomen ran out the clock to hold on for the win.
SECOND PLACE - 60 votes
January 20th
The women's basketball team defeats a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time ever as the Shorewomen defeat 23rd-ranked Muhlenberg, 64-63. The Shorewomen snapped a 22-game losing streak to the Mules with the victory, beating Muhlenberg for the first time since 1996. Elise Conway tallied 13 points, six assists, six rebounds, and two blocks in the historic victory for the women's basketball team, which went on to record its best season in six years.

February 18th
Kathy Gerhart ties for the gold medal in the 50 freestyle at the Centennial Conference Championships. Gerhart came in to the championships as a strong contender in the butterfly events, but put up a personal-best time of 24.71 in the 50 freestyle to share the gold, making her the second-fastest swimmer ever at WC in that event. Gerhart also finished fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 200 butterfly at the conference championships. Gerhart's best time in the 50 freestyle coming into the championships was a 25.33.

September 29th
Katherine O'Brien pounds down 59 kills in two matches during the Penny Fall Classic. O'Brien tallied a school single-match record 31 kills in a 21-30, 30-25, 30-21, 24-30, 15-7, volleyball victory over Villa Julie to open the day. O'Brien then added 28 kills in a four-game loss to Catholic later in the day. She also recorded 19 digs in each match. To make the day even more historic, teammate Caitlin Ward broke the school record for career assists in the win over Villa Julie.

The men's lacrosse team scores three goals in the final 1:16 of a 6-5 win against Franklin & Marshall, clinching the third seed in the Centennial Conference Playoffs. F&M held a 5-3 lead before Andrew Generazio cut the lead to 5-4 with a goal off a pass from Kolyn Kirby with 1:16 remaining. Generazio then found Kirby for a goal in transition with 12 seconds left to tie the score at 5-5. Casey O'Connor (won the ensuing face-off for Washington and Kirby found Chris Read for the game-winner, which found the net a half-second before the final horn sounded.

November 25th
Tim Kohlrus scores 35 points to lead the men's basketball team to a 74-73 overtime win over Goucher at the Provident Pride of Maryland Tournament. Kohlrus netted the game-tying free throws with a half-second left in regulation to force the overtime and sank the game-winning free throw with 13 seconds left in the extra period. Twenty-five of Kohlrus's points came after halftime, with a tournament-record 21 coming in the second half. Kohlrus finished with 73 points in the Shoremen's three games of the tournament, one point shy of the Provident Pride record for points in a tournament.

The field hockey team scores a school-record 13 goals in a season-opening shutout of the College of Notre Dame. The Shorewomen also set a school record for margin of victory in the win and Kelly Tancredi broke the school record for assists in a single game by handing out four helpers to go along with two goals. Kristin Bircsak added three goals and two assists and Kelsey Kemp also tallied a hat trick. The Shorewomen fired off 38 shots in the game.

The women's rowing team sweeps the women's races at the Caspersen Cup, giving Washington College the trophy for the second consecutive year. The Shorewomen's A boat won the women's varsity eight by over 30 seconds, with Washington's B boat finishing ahead of the top boats from Johns Hopkins and St. John's. The Shorewomen also took the top two spots in the women's novice four and won the women's varsity four and women's novice eight. On the day, not one Shorewoman boat finished behind a boat from competing schools Johns Hopkins or St. John's.

Mike DeBartolome caps off an oustanding career by homering in his final collegiate game as the Shoremen defeated St. Mary's, 14-2, to finish the regular season at home. DeBartolome, who finished his career with more hits and more doubles than any other Shoreman baseball player in 25 years, and more RBI than all but one Shoreman over that same time, had not hit a collegiate home run until belting a one-out, two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth inning.

February 24th & 25th
The sailing team goes 7-0 to win the Tom Noble Team Race, marking the third consecutive year the WC sailors have won the regatta, which had previously been known as the Washington College Team Race. The 7-0 mark also represented the first time that the WC sailors have put up an unbeaten record in a team race event. Alex Hood, Shrijana Puri, Parker Mitchell, Derek Packard, Conner Blouin, and Meredith Bluefeld sailed for Washington.
