Shoremen Bounce Bears, 8-1
Cranford Remains Unbeaten in Centennial Singles

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- The Washington College men's tennis swept singles play en route to an 8-1 Centennial Conference win over host Ursinus this afternoon inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse. The Shoremen improved to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play with the win, while the Bears fell to 2-11 and 0-6 with the loss.

The Shoremen took a 2-1 lead after doubles play by winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Sophomore Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and senior Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) rolled to an 8-0 win over Kevin Dean and Joseph Ellwood at No. 2, while senior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and senior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC) blanked Josh Hollaman and Kyle Davis, 8-0, at No. 3. The Bears won at No. 1 where Bennett MacLauchlan and Greg Lewis defeated sophomore Andrew Laux (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) and freshman Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg), 8-5, at No. 1.

Washington's wins at the top three singles spots to clinched the match. Cranford remained unbeaten in Centennial singles matches with a 6-2, 6-1, victory against MacLauchlan at No. 1, Ellison beat Dean, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2, and Green downed Lewis, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3. Switala then added an 8-2 win against Jason Zerbe at No. 4, while Danver topped Hollaman, 8-1, at No. 5. Freshman Kyle Lisco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) capped off the match with an 8-5 triumph against Ellwood at No. 6.

The Shoremen return to action Friday with a 2:00 p.m. match at 29th-ranked Salisbury.
