#29 Sea Gulls Stop Shoremen, 6-3
Cranford, Green & Danver Win in Singles

SALISBURY, MD -- Host Salisbury University, the 29th-ranked team in Division III and seventh-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, topped Eastern Shore rival Washington College, 6-3, in a non-conference men's tennis match this afternoon in Salisbury, MD. The Sea Gulls improved to 12-6 with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 9-6 with the loss.

Salisbury swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Scott Burtzlaff and Eva Thomas, the fourth-ranked doubles team in the region, beat freshman Brian Cedrowski (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair-Kimberley Academy) and freshman Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg), 8-5, at No. 1. Daniel Barnas and Andrew Nottage downed sophomore Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and senior Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD), 8-3, at No. 2, while David Lupinetti and Marcus Robinson beat senior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and senior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC), 8-3, at No. 3.

The Sea Gulls clinched the match by winning the first two singles matches to finish. Thomas defeated Ellison, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2, while Lupinetti bested Cedrowski, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3. Salisbury made it 6-0 with a 6-2, 4-6, 11-9, win for Nottage over Switala at No. 5. The Shoremen won the final three singles matches to finish. Green bested Barnas, 6-4, 2-6, 10-5, at No. 4, Danver defeated Sasha Felikson, 3-6, 6-2, 10-0, at No. 6, and Cranford bested Burtzlaff, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1.

The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins.
