Shoremen Edge Div. I Colonials, 4-3
Danver and Lisco Clinch Victory with Win at #2 Doubles

WINTER PARK, FL -- Senior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC) and freshman Kyle Lisco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) completed an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles to give the Washington College men's tennis team a 4-3 win over Division I Robert Morris tonight at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. The singles portion of the match was played first and the match was scored using Division I rules, awarding one point to the team which claims at least two doubles spots.

The two teams split singles play with the top four spots all going to a decisive third set. WC sophomore Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) defeated Sean Curley, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 1. The Colonials posted three-set wins at the next three singles spots. Igor Neves rallied for a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, win over freshman Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg) at No. 2, David Pinto pulled out a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(5), victory against senior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) at No. 3, and Ryan Cameron was a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, winner against freshman Brian Cedrowski (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair-Kimberley Academy) at No. 4. Washington won at No. 5 and No. 6 in straight sets as Danver defeated Aaron Haas, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 5 and senior Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) topped Daniel Becker, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 6.

In doubles, Pinto and Neves defeated WC sophomore Andrew Laux (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) and Cedrowski, 8-5, at No. 1, but Green and Switala posted a 9-7 victory against Curley and Becker at No. 3. Danver and Lisco then completed their 8-5 win over Cameron and Haas at No. 2 to win the match for the Shoremen.

The Shoremen also blanked Oxford College of Emory, 9-0, in an exhibition match earlier today.

The Shoremen return to action Friday with a 1:00 p.m. Mountain match against Northern Colorado at the University of Colorado.
