Div. I Bears Get Past Shoremen, 4-3
Danver & Switala Post Singles Wins

GREELEY, CO -- Division I Northern Colorado pulled out a 4-3 men's tennis victory over visiting Washington College today in a match played at Workout West in Greeley, CO. The Bears improved to 2-12 with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 2-2 with the loss. The match was played under Division I scoring rules with one point being awarded to the team which won at least two of the three doubles matches.

The Shoremen claimed the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Sophomore Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and senior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC) blanked Jordan Boecker and Andy Green, 8-0, at No. 2, while senior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and senior Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) defeated Andre Lepine and Clay Mundell, 8-6, at No. 3. The Bears won at No. 1 as Calix Van Lier and Adam Perez were 8-0 winners over sophomore Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and senior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC).

Northern Colorado won at the top four spots in singles, two of them in three sets, to win the match. Van Lier won, 6-4, 6-2, over Cranford at No. 1, while Mundell beat Cedrowski, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2. Perez pulled out a 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-1, victory over WC freshman Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg) at No. 2 and Boecker edged Todd Green, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3. Washington picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 as Danver downed Andy Green, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 and Switala bested Lepine, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 6.

The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with an 11:00 a.m. Mountain match against Hastings College at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
