Fords Take Down Shoremen, 7-2
Cranford Wins at No. 1 Singles

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Haverford College, the eighth-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, defeated host Washington College, 7-2, in a Centennial Conference men's tennis match this afternoon in Chestertown, MD. The doubles matches were played outside at the Schottland Tennis Center, while the singles matches were played inside the Johnson Lifetime Fitness Center.

The Fords (7-1, 2-0 Centennial) won at all three doubles spots to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Alex Buxbaum and Thomas Kinrade, the region's sixth-ranked doubles team, posted an 8-5 win over freshman Brian Cedrowski (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair-Kimberley Academy) and sophomore Andrew Laux (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) at No. 1. Evan Stiegel and Hailiu Yang downed sophomore Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and senior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC), 8-1, at No. 2. At No. 3, Will Garrett and Marc Rudolph were 8-3 winners over senior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and senior Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD).

The Shoremen (6-4, 1-1) got on the board when Cranford completed a 6-2, 6-4, victory against Buxbaum at No. 1 singles. Haverford took a 4-1 lead when Kinrade finished a 7-5, 7-5, win over freshman Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg) at No. 2. Stiegel clinched the match for Haverford with a 7-5, 6-1, win against Green at No. 3. Switala notched the Shoremen's second point of the match with a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Rudolph at No. 4. Yang downed WC freshman Kyle Lisco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), 8-2, at No. 6 and Stephen Feder beat Danver, 8-5, at No. 5 to provide the final margin.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Franklin & Marshall.
