Shoremen Shut Out Eagles, 9-0
Three Players Post 6-0, 6-0 Singles Wins

HILTON HEAD, SC -- Three Shoremen posted 6-0, 6-0, singles victories as the Washington College men's tennis team defeated Northwestern (MN) College, 9-0, today in Hilton Head, SC. With the win, the Shoremen remain undefeated in 2008 with a 5-0 record in dual matches.

Washington cruised through doubles to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Freshman Andrew Laux (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) and junior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) defeated John Barnes and Jordan Isaacson, 8-2, at No. 1, while freshman Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and junior Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC) bested Jeremiah Schneck, 8-1. Freshman Jon Keller (Frederick, MD/Frederick) and junior Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) added an 8-1 victory against Stephen Fread and Noah Persson at No. 3.

In singles, Cranford topped Barnes, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1. Washington won the next three spots in singles without dropping a game as Switala topped Stephen Fread at No. 2, Danver bested Schneck at No. 3, and sophomore Timothy Parks (Geneva, Switzerland/College du Leman) downed Isaacson at No. 4, all by 6-0, 6-0 finals. Sophomore Derek Wise (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) added a 6-0, 6-1, win against Josh Fread at No. 5, while Keller defeated Persson, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6.

The Shoremen return to action tomorow with a 12:00 p.m. match against Missouri Valley in Hilton Head.
