June 10, 2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College men's tennis player Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), who will be a senior this fall, has been named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-America Men's At-Large third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The men's at-large team is open to all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA student-athletes competing in golf, rifle, volleyball, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, wrestling, lacrosse, and tennis. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA. The nominee must also be of at least sophomore standing. Green, who was named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District II Men's At-Large first team last month, went 16-5 in singles for the Shoremen tennis team this season, including a 12-2 record in dual matches, playing primarily at No. 3 and No. 4. His 16 singles wins were second-most on the team this season. He was also 9-9 in doubles. Green, who helped lead the Shoremen to a 14-3 record and a Centennial Conference Playoff berth, earned Team Co-MVP honors and earned a spot on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. Through the spring 2008 semester, Green has maintained a grade-point average of 3.962 while majoring in Math. In addition to playing tennis, Green also started at point guard for the Washington College men's basketball team this past winter and was named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District II Men's Basketball first team. Green was the only student-athlete from a Centennial Conference school to be named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-America Men's At-Large first, second, or third teams. |
