Washington Soaks Salisbury, 123-82
AJ Feurer Eighth All-Time Fastest Swimmer In 1000 Freestyle

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Host Washington College won all 11 events on the evening to top visiting Eastern Shore rival Salisbury, 123-82, in a non-conference men's swimming meet on Wednesday evening at the Casey Swim Center in the home opener for WC. With the victory, the Shoremen improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Sea Gulls fall to 2-3. The Shoremen have now won 19 consecutive dual meets over the Sea Gulls.

Freshman A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop Curley) won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:38.84. His time is the eighth fastest all-time at Washington College and is a season-best time. He also grabbed a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:19.98

Junior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook), senior Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and sophomore Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) all won two individual events each. Violette won the the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle with times of 2:07.34 and 5:08.11 respectively. Both times are season-bests for the Shoremen. Soper grabbed wins in the 50 freestyle (22.72) and the 100 freestyle (50.36), both season-best times for WC. Auger garnered wins in the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke with Washington season-best times of 1:54.52 and 1:03.22 respectively.

Also recording first-place finishes were senior Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) in the 100 butterfly, with a WC season-top time of 55.26, and sophomore Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) in the 100 backstroke (57.53).

The relay teams won both events on the evening. The 400 medley relay team of Longworth, sophomore Johnny Helenek (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg), Pollock and Auger won the event with a time of 3:49.11, a season-best time. The 400 freestyle relay of Longworth, Pollock, Soper and Violette won the event with a season-top time of 3:26.07.

Washington tallied 10 season-best times out of 11 events in the triumph.

Helenek had a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.25.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference meet against visiting St. Mary's (MD).
