7, 2009 GETTYSBURG, PA - Host Gettysburg College spoiled visiting Washington College's season opener, 118-43, in Centennial Conference men's swimming action this afternoon in Gettysburg, PA. The Bullets improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in conference meets with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 0-1 and 0-1. Sophomore Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) captured the first-place points in the 200 breaststroke for the Shoremen, finishing in 2:20.30. His time was the second-fastest in the race; Gettysburg entered the event as exhibition entrants only. Senior Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) and sophomore Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) each recorded one individual second-place finish for the Shoremen. Pollock was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:07.00, while Longworth was second in the 200 backstroke in 2:04.13. Freshman A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop Curley) recorded two of Washington's five individual third-place finishes in his collegiate debut. He was third in the 500 freestyle in 5:19.40 and third in the 1000 freestyle in 10:49.66. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with their home opener, a 6:00 p.m. meet against Salisbury.
