21, 2009 CHESTERTOWN, MD - Visiting Franklin & Marshall College won eight of the nine contested events en route to a 121-69 Centennial Conference men's swimming victory over host Washington College this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Diplomats improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference meets with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 2-2 and 0-2 with the loss. Junior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) won the 400 individual medley in 4:28.64 for the Shoremen in the loss. Sophomore Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) received the first-place points in the 200 breaststroke by swimming the second-fastest time of 2:21.07. (Franklin & Marshall entered the final two events as exhibitions only.) Sophomore Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) finished second in the 200 backstroke in 2:04.42. Longworth, Auger, senior Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military), and senior Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) were second in the 400 medley relay in a Washington College season-best time of 3:47.79. The Shoremen return to action December 5th and 6th at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
