2009 TOWSON, MD - Freshman Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven), junior Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield), and junior Dan Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each won two individual events as visiting Washington College improved to 3-3 this season with a 111-70 win over host Goucher in non-conference men's swimming tonight in Towson, MD. Longworth won the 200 freestyle (1:53.54) and 100 backstroke (57.59), Soper took the 50 freestyle (23.27) and 100 freestyle (52.17), and Beadell won the 1000 freestyle (11:24.32) and 500 freestyle (5:29.82). Freshman Johnny Helenek (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) won the 200 individual medley (2:19.36) and swam the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.35) as an exhibition entrant. Junior Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) won the 100 butterfly (56.11). Senior Mike Caro (Yorktown, VA/Yorktown) added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:21.28). Freshman Ben Longwell (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) was second in the 1000 freestyle (12:13.38), while sophomore Tim Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) was second in the 100 freestyle (55.17). Longworth, Helenek, Pollock, and Tim Beadell won the 200 medley relay (1:46.52), while Dan Beadell, Pollock, freshman Ross Mills (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), and Soper swam the fastest time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.40) as an exhibition. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference home meet against Elizabethtown.
