19, 2009 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Fifteenth-ranked Dickinson College got three goals from Nicolas Tierno in a 3-0 Centennial Conference men's soccer win over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Red Devils remained undefeated at 6-0 overall, while the Shoremen slipped to 2-4. The game was the Centennial Conference opener for both teams. The Red Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 20:25 mark when Thomas Parkinson assisted on a Tierno's first goal. Dickinson held a 9-2 advantage in shots in the first half with all nine of the Red Devils' shots going on goal. Tierno tacked on an insurance goal when he scored on a loose ball in the box at 72:49 and another when he headed in a corner kick from Magen Mintz at 83:41. Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) made 14 saves in the loss for the Shoremen, who were outshot, 25-5, in the contest. Dickinson also had a 12-4 edge in corner kicks. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. game at Widener.
