Bears Defeat Shoremen, 2-0
Bedrock Makes 12 Saves in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Ursinus College scored twice in the second half to post a 2-0 Centennial Conference men's soccer victory over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Bears improved to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen dropped to 3-11 and 1-6.

Ursinus held a 5-4 lead in shots during a scoreless first half. The Bears got on the scoreboard at 59:59 when David Breines scored on a direct kick. Ursinus added its second goal at 76:10 when Andrew Machalick headed in a corner kick from Jean Carlo Cordova.

The Bears outshot the Shoremen, 20-7, in the game and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Ursinus goalkeeper Michael Alfieri made six saves in the win for the Bears. Sophomore goalkeeper James Bedrock (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) made 12 saves in the loss for Washington, including a stops on a penalty kick and subsequent rebound shot with in the 84th minute.

The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Haverford.
