Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Drew Hoffman

Drew Hoffman was named the 10th head coach in Washington College men's soccer history in the summer of 2006. Hoffman came to Washington from the United States Military Academy (Army), where he had served as the top assistant coach on the men's soccer staff since 2000. In his first season at Washington, Hoffman guided the team to an 8-8 record, doubling the Shoremen's win total from the previous season.

At Army, Hoffman was heavily involved with the Black Knights' nationwide recruiting and designed and implemented team and individual technical, tactical, and fitness training sessions. He was also responsible for scouting and game-planning and served as the Assistant Director of the Army Soccer Camp.

Hoffman got his start in college coaching at his alma mater, West Chester University. Hoffman served as an assistant men's soccer coach at West Chester from 1996 until 1999, when he was named the school's interim women's soccer coach. As head women's coach, he guided the Golden Rams to their first-ever national ranking and first-ever appearance in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game.

Hoffman has also coached in the Eastern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania Olympic Development Programs (ODP). While working with the Eastern Pennsylvania ODP, he was the assistant head coach of an Under-15 boys team that qualified for the national semifinals.

As a player at West Chester, Hoffman had an outstanding four-year career and helped lead the Golden Rams to a school-record 14 wins in 1994 and the ECAC Semifinals.

Hoffman graduated from West Chester in 1997 with a B.A. in Social Work and went on the earn an M.S. in Educational Counseling and College Student Development from C.W. Post in 2002.

Hoffman holds a National "A" License from the US Soccer Federation Coaches Association and a Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He is currently working with Maryland's Olympic Development Program (ODP) as well as with Maryland State Youth Soccer Association Coaching Education and the Freestate Soccer Alliance.

Hoffman works at the Elite 300 Soccer Camp and the Middle States Soccer Camp every summer and is the owner and operator of the Shore Soccer School (S3), which will be holding camps and clinics on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Assistant Coach:
Jonnie Jenkins

Jonnie Jenkins joined the Shoremen's coaching staff for the 2007 season. A four-year standout player for the Washington men's soccer team, Jenkins served as a team captain his senior season and totaled three goals and one assist in 64 games. During his playing career, he started at several different positions.

Jenkins holds licenses from Maryland State Soccer E and National Youth Soccer. He owns and operates Upper 90 Soccer Training, a group that runs soccer camps in the Westminster, Maryland area.

Jenkins earned a B.A. in History from Washington College in May 2007. He also completed the school's Education program.

Assistant Coach:
Briggs Cunningham

Briggs Cunningham is in his third year as an assistant coach at Washington College. Cunningham is a graduate of Yale University, where he earned a B.A. in American Studies in 1979, and also played junior varsity soccer and varsity tennis.

Cunningham coached several junior soccer teams in the Washington, DC, area for eight years and carries a USSF National "D" coaching license. Cunningham worked as Production Manager of Smithsonian Magazine for over 12 years and at National Parks Magazine for eight years.

The grandson of 1958 America's Cup winning skipper Briggs Cunningham, Jr., Cunningham resides in nearby Rock Hall with his wife Sara England Cunningham. He has two Children, four step-children, and three step-grandsons.
