2008 PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Washington College men's rowing team's "A" boat finished ninth of 20 in the men's college four at the Philadelphia Navy Day Regatta this morning. Washington's "B" boat was 17th in the race, while the "C" boat was 20th. The Shoremen's "A" boat completed the 4,000-meter course in 15:30.50. Rutgers' "A" boat won the race in 14:45.70, while Pennsylvania's "B" boat was second in 14:55.40. Junior Springer Harris (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's "A" boat, which also featured sophomore Michael Zaborskiy (Novosibirsk City, Russia/American School of Bangkok) at stroke, sophomore Reno Smith (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) in the three seat, sophomore Will Herland (Seattle, WA/Lakeside School) in the two seat, and junior R, Scott Jones (Maple Glen, PA/La Salle College HS) at bow. Senior Carla Wiemers (Kensington, MD/Holy Cross) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's "B" boat, which finished the course in 16:39.70. Junior Andrew Newell (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) sat stroke, senior Matthew Icenroad (Sykesville, MD/Century) was in the three seat, junior Dan Pierce (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) was in the two seat, and junior Ryan Beaston (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro) was the bow. Sophomore Eric Swenson (Chatham, NJ/Chatham) served as coxswain of the Shoremen's "C" boat, which finished in 17:47.30. Sophomore Jake Ludemann (Wilton, CT/St. Luke's) sat stroke, senior Clint McKee (Frederick, MD/St. John's at Prospect Hall) was in the three seat, junior Quentin Swain (Pasadena, MD/Mount St. Joseph) sat in the two seat, and freshman James Rhynalds (Queenstown, MD/Gunston Day School) was the bow. The Shoremen return to action next Saturday at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. |
