8, 2008 PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Washington College men's rowing team competed in the college men's frosh/novice four and the college men's varsity eight this afternoon at the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta. The regatta marked the end of the fall season for the Shoremen rowers. The Shoremen's frosh/novice eight finished three of five boats in its race in 8:37.84. New York Maritime won the race in 8:22.41, Scranton was second in 8:29.61, UMBC was fourth in 8:48.34, and Wilkes was fifth in 9:23.25. Freshman Isabel Derera (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) served as coxswain for the Shoremen's frosh/novice four. Freshman Zack Holocker (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) sat stroke, freshman Miqdad Annab (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) was in the three seat, freshman Brian Haluska (Chesterfield, NJ/Notre Dame) sat in the two seat, and freshman Devin Sheehan (Wye Mills, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) was the bow. Washington's varsity eight was fourth of four boats in its race in 6:38.77. Georgetown won the race in 6:17.47, Pennsylvania's lightweight "B" boat was second in 6:23.45, and Drexel's "B" boat was third in 6:26.36. Junior Springer Harris (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) served as coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity eight. Sophomore Will Herland (Seattle, WA/Lakeside School) sat stroke, junior R, Scott Jones (Maple Glen, PA/La Salle College HS) was in the seven seat, sophomore Michael Zaborskiy (Novosibirsk City, Russia/American School of Bangkok) sat in the two seat, sophomore Jake Ludemann (Wilton, CT/St. Luke's) was in the five seat, junior Andrew Newell (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) sat in the four seat, junior Ryan Beaston (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro) was in the three seat, junior Dan Pierce (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) was in the two seat, and senior Matthew Icenroad (Sykesville, MD/Century) was the bow. |
