Perlow Scores Twice in Loss

LANCASTER, PA -- Host Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead and held on for a 7-6 Centennial Conference men's lacrosse victory over visiting Washington College tonight in Lancaster, PA. The Diplomats (4-8, 2-5 Centennial) enjoyed a 23-8 advantage in shots in the first half. In spite of the loss, the Shoremen (9-5, 4-4 Centennial) clinched the third seed in next month's Centennial Conference Playoffs based on other results around the conference earlier in the day.

Washington scored first in the game when sophomore attackman Josh Perlow (Owings Mills, MD/Boys Latin) scored off an assist from attackman Billy Stafford (Hereford, MD/Hereford) with 9:25 left in the first quarter. The Diplomats then scored the final three goals of the first quarter and the only goal of the second to charge ahead, 4-1, on a Sean Oliver goal with 14:17 left in the second quarter.

The two teams exchanged goals in the third quarter. WC sophomore attackman Shane Kaski (Richmond, VA/Midlothian) scored with 55 seconds remaining in the third to cut the lead to 6-4.

The Diplomats again answered as Wilkinsky scored his fourth goal of the game with 11:28 remaining to make it 7-4. The Shoremen rallied late to score the final two goals of the contest as senior midfielder Kyle van Oostendorp (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) netted a goal with 2:08 to play and Perlow scored off a feed from sophomore attackman Bhelly Bagbonon (Paoli, PA/Conestoga) with four seconds left in the game.

Wilkinsky's four goals led all scorers; Hild added two for the Diplomats. Perlow was the only Shoreman with multiple goals, tallying two. Chris Marcozzi made 10 saves in the win for F&M, while senior goalie Gordon Cohen (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) made 12 in the loss for the Shoremen.

The Diplomats finished the game with a 35-24 advantage in shots.
