#4 Shoremen Receive Bid to NCAA Tournament
Washington to Host Lynchburg Sunday in Second Round

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The fourth-ranked Washington College men's lacrosse team received one of the four at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The NCAA Division III Tournament field was announced tonight and the Shoremen will open play in the tournament with a second round home game against Lynchburg. The game was tentatively scheduled for Saturday, but has been moved to Sunday at 1:30 p.m. due to Lynchburg's commencement being held on Saturday.

The Shoremen are currently 13-3 after falling to third-ranked Gettysburg, 12-7, in the Centennial Conference Championship game earlier today. Washington went 7-1 in the regular season in the Centennial Conference and defeated Haverford, 11-6, in the conference semifinals.

The Lynchburg College Hornets are 16-2 overall this season. Lynchburg went 6-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season games and beat Virginia Wesleyan, 12-6, in today's Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship game. Lynchburg is currently tied for fourth with the Shoremen in the USILA Division III Top 20.

Washington is 11-0 all-time against Lynchburg. The two teams last met in the second round of the 2006 NCAA Division III Tournament as Washington posted an 8-7 road victory.

This is the 23rd Division III Championship bid and 28th NCAA bid overall for the Shoremen. The Shoremen won the Division III National Championship in 1998. Washington College appeared in five NCAA Div. II-III National Championship tournaments in the 1970s.

Sunday's game will be the first NCAA Division III Tournament game to be held on the new Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. Washington's last NCAA Division III Tournament home game was a 9-8 quarterfinal win over Gettysburg on May 19, 2004.

Admission prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Children two years old or younger are admitted free of charge if accompanied by a ticketed adult.
