2009 COCOA, FL - Penn State-Greater Alllegheny defeated Washington College, 5-1, in a non-conference baseball game today at the Cocoa Expo in Cocoa, FL. The Shoremen slipped to 3-2 on the season with the loss. Washington took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior first baseman Joe Coveney (Madison, NJ/Madison) tripled in senior right fielder Tony Tozzolo (Calvert County, MD/Northern). The Nittany Lions answered with four runs in the fifth and tacked on another in the sixth. Jon Lutz tossed a complete game for Penn State-Greater Allegheny, allowing one run on six hits and one walk. Coveney was the only Shoreman with multiple hits in the game. Junior third baseman Matt Boucher (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) also tripled in the loss. The Shoremen will return to action tomorrow with a 10:00 a.m. game against Oneonta State in Cocoa, FL. |
