Shoremen Pound PSU-Brandywine, 17-4
Washington Records 19 Hits; WC Pitchers Fan 13 Batters

COCOA, FL - The Washington College baseball team improved to 2-0 in dominating fashion tonight, defeating Penn State-Brandywine, 17-4, at Cocoa Expo Stadium in Cocoa, NY. The Shoremen pounded out 19 hits at the plate and three pitchers combined to fan 13 Nittany Lion batters.

Washington held a 3-0 lead in the game before breaking the game open with an eight-run third inning to open up an 11-0 cushion.

Junior center fielder Chris Keiper (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, three runs scored, and two RBI in the win, while junior designated hitter Brian Kramer (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) went 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, a run scored, and two RBI. Junior third baseman Matt Boucher (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI, and three runs scored, while senior first baseman Joe Coveney (Madison, NJ/Madison) was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored and senior right fielder Tony Tozzolo (Calvert County, MD/Northern) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Senior pitcher Greg Perret (Morris Plains, NJ/Bayley Ellard) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven batters in five innings of work to get the win. Freshman Steve Cameron (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) allowed three hits and struck out three batters in three innings, while sophomore A.J. Hill (Duluth, MN/Lakeside, GA) allowed one hit and struck out three batters in the ninth.

The Shoremen will return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. game against Norwich in Cocoa, FL.
