Green Terror Best Shoremen, 3-1
Boucher With Two Hits and Run Scored In Loss

WESTMINSTER, MD - McDaniel got a complete game, nine strikeout performance from pitcher Tyler Persun as the Green Terror topped visiting Washington College, 3-1, on Monday afternoon in Centennial Conference baseball action at Preston Field. McDaniel improves to 12-8 overall and 5-4 in conference action, while the Shoremen fall to 9-13 and 3-7 respectively.

Washington tallied a run in the top of the fourth inning to score the game's first run. Junior Matt Boucher (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) lead off the inning with a single to centerfield and went from first base to third base on a single to right by senior Tony Tozzolo (Calvert County, MD/Northern). Boucher scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Ben Jardot (McLean, VA/Flint Hill School) to put the Shoremen up 1-0.

McDaniel scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead after entering the frame down 1-0. Troy Tipton led off the inning with a double to left field before being replaced by pinch-runner Matt Teter. Teter would move to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a one out RBI double to right-center by Zach Croft. With two outs, junior pitcher Chris Smith (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) was relieved by sophomore Harry Woods (Montclair, NJ/Montclair). The first batter Woods faced, Justin Reitz doubled to right-center driving in two to put the Green Terror up 3-1.

Washington had the tying run up in the eighth inning following a two-out two-bagger by senior Greg Perret (Morris Plains, NJ/Bayley Ellard), but Boucher grounded out to end the Shoremen's final threat.

Persun picked up the win and improves to 4-2 on the season as he scattered seven hits and allowed just one run in addition to his nine strikeouts. At the plate, Reitz was 4-for-4 with two RBI and Tipton was 2-for-3 from the dish.

Smith took the loss for the Shoremen and falls to 2-4 on the season. He allowed three runs in 6.2 innings, striking out six and surrendering seven hits on the afternoon. Boucher, Perret and Tozzolo all went 2-for-4 on the day.

The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference road tilt at Johns Hopkins.
