Rob Weber Named New Head Coach at Franklin & Marshall
Promotion Follows Retirement of Claus Wolter
(December 22) - Rob Weber has been promoted to head coach of the Franklin & Marshall College rowing teams. Weber, who was serving as assistant coach, takes over for the recently retired Claus Wolter. He has also served as an assistant coach at William and Mary and at Savannah College of Art and Design. Weber is a 1995 graduate of Wabash College.
Washington College Eights Place High at Head of the Schuylkill
(October 27) - The Washington College rowing teams turned in impressive showings in the men's and women's open club eights Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill regatta. The Shoremen finished eight of 30 boats, while the Shorewomen were sixth of 19.
Busy Weekend for MARC Teams Sees UMW, WC Finish Back-to-Back
(October 13) - Seven of the eight MARC schools competed in fall regattas this past weekend. On Saturday, four MARC programs competed at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia, with Mary Washington and Washington College finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the men's collegiate four. On Sunday, Marietta placed fifth in the collegiate division of the women's four at the Head of the Genesee. For all of the weekend's results, click here.
Mary Washington Women Win at Occoquan Challenge
(October 5) - Mary Washington's women's varsity eight finished in first place at the Occoquan Challenge yesterday in Lorton, Va. The Eagles' winning time was 17:14.77.
Richard Wilson Named New Head Coach at Mary Washington
Wilson Previously Served as Assistant Coach at Delaware
(July 24) - The University of Mary Washington has named Richard Wilson its new head men's and women's rowing coach. Wilson has served the past two years as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. In his position at Delaware, Wilson was responsible for coaching novices and walk-ons for the women’s varsity program.
On the water, Wilson is a three-time champion of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and was a four-year collegiate rower at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a B.A. in 1987.
Washington College First Varsity Eight is 13th-Place Boat at NCAA's
(May 30) - Washington College's first varsity eight finished 13th in the overall boat standings at the 2009 NCAA Division III Championships May 29th and 30th in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Shorewomen finished fourth in their heat and fifth in the petite qualifier before winning the third-level final.
Washington College Receives At-Large Bid to NCAA Division III Championships
(May 12) - Washington College's first varsity eight has been selected as one of the two at-large boats to compete at the 2009 NCAA Division III Championships May 29th and 30th in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Shorewomen's first varsity eight won the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Varsity Eight Championship and did not lose to a single MARC opponent all season.

Mary Washington Women, Men Win Overall MARC Championships

(April 25) - Congratulations to the University of Mary Washington women's and men's rowing teams, both of which won their respective conference championships at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships held today at Gifford Pinchot Stat Park in York County, Pa. The Washington College women and Mary Washington men captured the varsity eight conference championships. Full results are available on the championships page. Congratulations are also in order for all of the 2009 MARC Award Winners, which were announced at today's regatta. Steve Perry of Johns Hopkins was named the Women's Coach of the Year by unanimous vote, while Washington College's John Leekley was named Men's Coach of the Year.

(April 19) - The Marietta College women's rowing advanced to the grand finals of the women's varsity eight, finishing fourth, at the 42nd annual Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship, this weekend. Other regattas this weekend included the Johns Hopkins Invitational, which featured three MARC schools.

(April 13) - Six MARC schools were in action at the annual Knecht Cup this past Friday and Saturday. Washington College's women won a pair of MARC-heavy events, finishing first in the Division III women's varsity eight and Division III women's second varsity eight. Mary Washington was second to the Shorewomen in both races. The Washington College men won the Division II/III men's varsity four, while Marietta's women captured the Division III women's varsity four.

Seven MARC Schools Head to Annual Cooper River Regatta
(April 9) - The annual Knecht Cup on New Jersey's Cooper River will be held this Friday and Saturday and six MARC schools - Bryn Mawr, Johns Hopkins, Marietta, Mary Washington, Rutgers-Camden, and Washington College - will be competing there. Four of the regatta's events will feature at least three MARC schools; on the men's side, Johns Hopkins, Rutgers-Camden, and Washington will be competing in the frosh/novice four and Division II/III varsity four heats, while both Division III varsity eight races on the women's side will be MARC-heavy. The Division III women's second varsity eight will be a race between Washington, Mary Washington, and Bryn Mawr, while Washington, Mary Washington, Bryn Mawr, Johns Hopkins, and Marietta fill five of the six spots in the Division III women's varsity eight race. Marietta Hosts Invitational, Washington College Wins Three Races in Philadelphia
(April 6) - Mary Washington's women's varsity eight finished second to Division I George Mason at yesterday's Occoquan Sprints. Richard Stockton was second in its heat of the women's varsity four at the same regatta. Elsewhere yesterday, Franklin & Marshall's women and Bryn Mawr split a pair of races as the Diplomats won the varsity eight by 17 seconds over the Owls and the Owls won the second varsity eight by three seconds over the Diplomats. Saturday's MARC racing included wins by Washington College's women's varsity four and men's varsity four and varsity eight at a four-school regatta hosted by Philadelphia University and the Marietta Invitational.
