Q. Are athletic scholarships available?
A: No, Washington College is an NCAA Division III institution and athletic grants are prohibited. Washington College does award a variety of need-based and merit-based scholarships, grants, and aid.

Q. What varsity intercollegiate sports does WC offer?
A: Our varsity teams for men include baseball, basketball, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, swimming, and tennis.  Our varsity teams for women include basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.  Our varsity intercollegiate sailing team is co-ed and competes in both co-ed and women's events. 

Q. In what conference does WC participate?
A: WC competes in the Centennial Conference for all sports except rowing and sailing. The conference includes Johns Hopkins, McDaniel, Swarthmore, Haverford, Ursinus, Muhlenberg, Gettysburg, Bryn Mawr, Dickinson, and Franklin & Marshall. Formed in 1993, the Centennial Conference, is comprised of national liberal arts colleges and universities in the region that share similar academic aspirations and a commitment to the importance of the total educational experience of students engaged in sports. All eleven member institutions are more than one hundred years old and are Division III members of the NCAA. In sailing, Washington is a member of the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Associaition (MAISA), which is a conference within the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). The Washington College rowing teams are members of the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC).

Q. How many students participate in the College's athletic & recreational programs?
A: Approximately 30% of the student body participates in a varsity sport and approximately 30% participate in a club sport or recreational program.
