Women's Soccer Team

Shorewomen of the Week

After shrugging off a bus fire with a 5-0 win at Cedar Crest, the women's soccer team receives special team recognition as Shorewomen of the Week.

Less than 20 minutes into their charter bus trip to what would have been their season opener at Randolph-Macon Friday, the Shorewomen's bus caught fire.  While the experience was obviously harrowing, no one was hurt and the team quickly latched on to the moniker "Girls on Fire" - a reference to The Hunger Games character Katniss Everdeen.

The Shorewomen went out and played like they were "on fire" when they got the chance to open the season two days later, blanking Cedar Crest, 5-0. It was their first win in a season opener since 2005 and first five-goal game since 2008.
