Rachel Glasser

Shorewoman of the Week

Senior swimmer Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) is this week's Shorewoman of the Week. Glasser won three individual gold medals, two relay gold medals, and two relay silver medals at the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships, held Friday through Sunday at Gettysburg College. She was named the female Most Outstanding Performer of the meet for the third consecutive year, becoming just the second woman in the history of the conference to win it at least three times.

Glasser won the 500 freestyle in a meet- and pool-record time of 4:57.35, which was also an NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifying time. She won the 200 freestyle in a school-, meet-, and pool-record time of 1:52.33, which was also an NCAA Division III Championship provisional qualifying time. Her third individual gold came in the 200 butterfly where she broke a pool record with an NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifying time of 2:04.35.

In relay events, she swam the freestyle leg of the conference-, school-, and pool-record setting and gold medal-winning 200 medley relay (1:49.62), the butterfly leg of the school- and pool-record setting and gold medal-winning 400 medley relay (3:59.57), and the anchor leg of the silver medal-winning 200 (school record of 1:37.90) and 400 freestyle relays.

This is the fifth time this season that Glasser has been named the Shorewoman of the Week.
