Kielek Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Jimmy Kielek (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley), who played four years of collegiate lacrosse at Washington College and received a B.A. in Biology from the school in May, is one of 58 spring sport student-athletes nationwide to be awarded with an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Berger Makes 40-Man National Team Roster
Assistant Coach & Alum to Compete for Spot
on U.S. Team at 2010 World Championship

Current Washington College assistant coach and Major League Lacrosse All-Star Stephen Berger, a 2004 graduate of WC and three-time All-American at the school, is one of 40 players who have been chosen by US Lacrosse for the 2010 U.S. men’s national training team following a three-day tryout at Bryant University. All 40 players, tabbed by a 14-member player selection committee, advance with an opportunity to compete in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship in Manchester, England from July 10-24, 2010. Team USA will compete in three training weekends during the fall of 2009. After those three weekends, the roster will be cut to the FIL-mandated size of 23 players for the 2010 FIL World Championship in Manchester, England.

Putnam Named Head Sailing Coach at WC
New Hire is Former Eckerd Assistant, National Team Member

Washington College Athletic Director Dr. Bryan Matthews has announced the hiring of Josh Putnam as head coach of the school's varsity sailing team. Putnam, a 2005 graduate of The Citadel and accomplished sailor at the national and international level, was most recently an assistant coach at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL.

Green Repeats as ESPN the Magazine
Men's At-Large Academic All-American

Washington College men's tennis player Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), who recently graduated from the school, has been named to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-America Men's At-Large second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is the second year in a row Green has been named an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American, having been placed on the third team a year ago.
